Learn why VASCEPA® stands apart from other medications.

Top reasons to choose proven prescription VASCEPA

VASCEPA has been rigorously studied for over a decade and has a history of clinical trial success. Prescription VASCEPA has only one active ingredient, icosapent ethyl. Unlike other treatment options, VASCEPA doesn’t raise bad cholesterol. VASCEPA has a safety profile similar to placebo and is FDA-approved.

VASCEPA follows strict regulatory standards with a patented 3-month process qualified to meet FDA drug standards. This process ensures the consistency and stability of VASCEPA. This is important because, if damaged, the safety and efficacy of the active ingredient can vary and is highly vulnerable to derivatives and oxidation/spoilage.

Earlier generation medications were studied to see if they reduced cardiovascular events.

x

Prescription Omega-3s (omega-3-acid ethyl esters) have been unsuccessful in demonstrating benefits beyond lowering triglycerides and cholesterol, including the reduction of cardiovascular events.

x

Fenofibrates, while proven to lower triglycerides and cholesterol, have not been proven to reduce cardiovascular events.

x

Common fish oil dietary supplements are not intended to treat medical conditions, are not FDA-approved nor have they been clinically proven to show any cardiovascular benefit.

The potential effects of VASCEPA in adult patients with triglycerides <500 mg/dL have not been approved by the FDA.

Amarin wishes to thank the clinicians and patients who participated in the VASCEPA clinical trials.
